Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn and other city officials announced a new program designed to spur the local economy into recovery. Shop L.A. County runs from Jan. 17–21 and offers discounts for consumers shopping certain area malls, including Hollywood & Highland, Fashion Square Sherman Oaks, Citadel Factory Stores and Santa Monica Place. (A complete list of participating malls is available on www.shoplacounty.com.) A portion of proceeds will benefit BookEnds, a nonprofit group that provides books to local schools.
