Vionnet's Low-Slung Pants Are on the Move

It’s not all about low-rise denim at Vionnet, the year-old store on North Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles. Sure, Seven is checking (where isn’t it?). But, Delia low-slung pants are selling by the hundreds, says co-owner Nevena Borissova, who is also the co-owner of the Curve boutique next door. The cotton sateen trousers with cuffed legs—designed by Borissova’s partner Delia Seaman—are tough to keep in stock due to their versatility, according to Borissova.

“They have an amazing fit and are practical yet fashionable,” she says. White is the favorite color, but pastels are getting more popular with the onset of spring, Borissova notes. Shoppers are pairing the item with Delia’s off-the-shoulder, hand-embroidered silk top. The pants retail from $175 to $275 depending on the fabric and the top runs $395.

The store, named after legendary fashion designer Madeleine Vionnet, also stocks lacy slip dresses, colorful camisoles and other feminine fare from Delia, Miguelina, Samantha Chang and Nathalie Saphier.

Meanwhile, Curve is launching its own clothing label in two weeks, according to Borissova. “It will be casual with a twist,” she says. Silk cargo pants, oversized cotton T-shirts, unraveled long-sleeve shirts and A-line deconstructed skirts are among the core pieces. Borissova plans to wholesale the line, which is priced from $150 to $350, in New York in the next year. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
