Excel Bows on West Coast
Independent textile representative Robert Peck introduced Excel Fabrics Corp. to the West Coast during the April 29–May 1 run of the Los Angeles International Textile Show.
The New York-based company imports novelty fabrics from Korea, including satins, taffetas, velvets, lace and faux fur. Excel also offers embellished fabrics such as glitter-printed and sequined styles. The company’s point of difference is that it provides coordinating solids that work back to most novelties, according to Peck.
The textile rep, who will serve as vice president of sales—West Coast for Excel, said he’s targeting the junior, dress, missy and prom/special occasion markets. Prices for Excel items range from $2 to $6, and some goods are stocked domestically.
Peck, who formerly carried Valdese Textiles, said the textile show gave him a chance to preview the Spring collection to gauge the direction of the market.
