Foot of the Mart Owner Peters Dies
California Market Center (formerly the California Mart) shoe retailer Bill Peters died on May 15 of a heart attack. He was 75.
Peters owned the Foot of the Mart men’s shoe store on the lobby level of the Cal Mart for more than 20 years, according to his wife, Selma, who added that he had been a retailer in the Cal Mart for nearly 25 years and in the shoe business all his life.
“He was a good, loyal, decent, honest person,” she said. “He loved his job to the last minute.”
Peters is survived by his wife; children Larry and Caren Peters, Margo and Marc Weinberg, Berdie and Len Stein, and Cheryl and Michael Glynn; and grandchildren Marcy, Jake, Jessica, Alex, Jackie and Joey.
