S.A.M. Showroom

New Mart Suite 407 (213) 489-5265

S.A.M.’s bright and airy contemporary showroom on the fourth floor of the New Mart may seem a bit sparse. However, most buyers only notice the showroom’s abundant contemporary fashion offerings.

“We’re not planning to decorate because we like our walls clean. We want buyers to come here for the uniqueness of the collections,” said owner Sharyn Gold, who previously worked at the 1015 showroom before opening S.A.M. with colleague Melissa Assa.

Prior to opening their showroom, Gold and Assa met with several local manufacturers during their search for a perfect mix. The twosome said they were careful not to choose lines that would compete with one another.

The 12,000-square-foot showroom features eight collections: Leche Y Vin (“Milk and Wine”), a contemporary easy dressing collection ($40–$120); Lily McNeal, a contemporary knitwear and sweater collection made with stretch cotton and Merino wool ($62–$100); Floosie, an intimates and sleepwear accessories collection ($8—$34); White, a womenswear collection that combines contrasting masculine/ feminine pieces ($29–$86); Development, a contemporary womenswear collection that fuses cosmopolitan looks with functional fashion ($66–$298); Tomorrrow’s Chase, a novelty T-shirt collection that fuses fashion, art and poetry ($23–$29); Nu, a novelty tops-driven collection made with silk and chiffon ($33–$60); and Ernsdorf, a deconstructed novelty T-shirt and dress line ($18–$65). —Claudia Figueroa
