L.A. Fashion Week Spring '03: Atoosa

Techno was the vibe at the Atoosa Liquid Affair Runway Show on Nov. 2 at Hollywood’s Club King King, where Atoosa G. celebrated 10 years as a fashion designer.

While the deejay pumped techno music at 5,000 decibels, the crowd helped the models get hyped for the show—flowing like liquid, seemingly melting into one another, touching and nudging, though not pushing or shoving. That liquidity came in handy when Atoosa’s show got off to a very late start, as the crowd—in another zone on techno—paid very little attention to space and time.

The Atoosa collection for Spring ’03 was separated into athletic and casual lifestyle for men and women. The casual lifestyle line featured twill slacks and woven shirts for men, wraps and skirts for women, and denim pants and jackets for men and women. The athletic portion featured velour warm-up suits for men and terry-cloth micro shorts sets for women.

The club also hosted a mini-store alongside the deejay booth, where Atoosa set up a rack sale. The area stayed busy most of the night, clearing only during the show. —Darryl James
