Frederick's of Hollywood

President Linda LoRe called it a coming- out party of sorts for Frederick’s of Hollywood. Indeed, more than 300 celebs—David Spade, Tara Reid, ’N Sync’s Joey Fatone and J.C. Chasez, Michael Rosenbaum from the WB’s “Smallville” and Drea de Matteo from HBO’s “The Sopranos”—came out to witness the legendary lingerie company’s Spring collection and denim debut at Hollywood’s Falcon supper club Nov. 5.

“This is a renaissance for us,” LoRe declared. “We’re coming out of Chapter 11 and perfecting our product, which is sexy but wearable for anyone.”

Befitting the flirt more than the trollop, the collection kicked off with a new low-rise denim line (set to hit the company’s Web site and catalog in spring), paired with Frederick’s signature bustiers and the occasional fishnet arm sock. Lots of lace followed in bras with scalloped edges and tap pants, as well as “wedding looks,” including a marabou-trimmed baby-doll and satin lounge set. Whimsy was part of the show with underwear sets sporting rear logos. Solid red and black themes were a strong suit with sheer, georgette and lace robes and flyaway gowns. Skinny vinyl pants and a fringed vinyl bra still popped up occasionally— some things don’t change—but most of the wares had an understated look.

Staged in the Falcon’s outside patio, the event had the dubious distinction of taking place below a billboard promoting the Spearmint Rhino gentlemen’s club. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
