David Tupaz's Old Hollywood

It may be clicheacute;d—but “elegance and glamour is what this town should be about,” says David Tupaz. And, on Nov. 9, the Los Angeles–based designer applied that theory when he showed his Spring/Summer 2003 collection at Saint James’ Church, Episcopal in Los Angeles.

The collection offered a wide variety of looks, all keeping with Tupaz’s fascination for Old Hollywood. Daytime looks were offered in resorty linens for men and women and came in natural and white; evening ensembles with an Asian influence came in a group of checkered and striped black-and-white floor-length skirts and kimono-like jackets. Tupaz closed the show with several different gowns, including a gold silk number with a bronze sequin bustier that won oohs and ahhs from his audience. —Joselle Yokogawa
