Esquivel Shoes Bow at Fred Segal Feet

You’d think Jimmy Choos were half off considering the number of people attending the debut party of Esquivel shoes at Fred Segal Feet on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The Nov. 7 event featured the custom-made wares of George Esquivel, who takes calf-skin oxfords and boots one step further with wing-tips, sole-striping and patterned vamps. All that effort comes with a price; his shoes range from $480 to $2,090, a price point that befits his celebrity clientele, such as Gwen Stefani and designer Richard Tyler, as well as the Fred Segal customer, he said. “This is the best possible retail account for me,” Esquivel said. Fred Segal Feet owner Stanley Silver said the shoes fit “the Los Angeles lifestyle.” For those on a wardrobe budget, the evening’s sandwiches and bruschetta provided by Fred Segal’s in-house eatery, Mauro’s Cafeacute;, and music by the White Buffalo band (backed by Hurley president Bob Hurley) kept the shopping urge in check. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
