FIDM Redesigns Orange County Campus

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) has completed a redesign of its Irvine, Calif., satellite campus, set to officially reopen on Sept. 10.

The 38,000-square-foot facility, which is woven into a 53,000- square-foot industrial complex, features floor plans that incorporate a village concept connecting all departments together for improved access and visibility, said FIDM president Tonian Hohberg. Project architect Clive Wilson designed the facility using loft construction and included lots of glass for indoor-outdoor connections, bright color panels and ergonomically designed furniture to reflect the heavy design influence of FIDM.

The school will host a private reception on Sept. 9 and an open event titled “Fashion Power” on Nov. 23. FIDM offers majors in fashion and textile design, merchandising and visual communications. Its main campus is in the Los Angeles Fashion District. —Robert McAllister
