St. John and Bloomingdale's Tout Partnership

In celebration of their new partnership, St. John and Bloomingdale’s at the Westfield Shoppingtown Century City shopping center in Los Angeles staged a Fall fashion show Sept. 12 at the designer’s new instore boutique situated among the likes of Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan. Irvine, Calif.-based St. John plans to roll out similar boutiques featuring blond wood and chrome fixtures at Bloomingdale’s stores across the country, including locations at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Calif., in Aventura, Fla., and Chestnut Hill, Mass. St. John opened a boutique in Bloomingdale’s New York location in July.

“It’s classic, elegant and is what our customers are looking for,” said Dana Rosenberg, director of public relations for Bloomingdale’s. “It’s an amazing resource for us.”

Added Andrea Howe, a business representative for St. John, “It was [president] Kelly Gray’s vision to be here. She knew we’d have a strong following here.”

The event featured the designer’s signature separates in deep colors, including aubergine and loden green, novelty textures and added details. Highlights included a multi-plaid jacket, green pantsuit with gold-trimmed cuffs and pockets, and aubergine skirt suit with puffed shoulders and a front tie.

Drawing about 50 attendees—mostly loyal St. John buyers and volunteers with the event’s beneficiary, Hollygrove, an organization serving abused youth—the afternoon also included a luncheon catered by Patina. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
