Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Ashley Paige
Ooh-la-la, Ashley. Swimwear designer Ashley Paige showed off her babe-alicious collection of knit swimsuits on April 2 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. This season, Paige went for a bit of good girl–meets–bad girl–meets–Bond girl. Models had long, sexy tresses and eyes that were either innocent—powdered in pastel shadow—or smoldering with black liner.
For those who can pull off Paige’s suits, bandeau styles are the hot ticket.
A rugby-striped navy-and-white bikini with a silver “A” medallion and a black crochet number with a silver waist chain were two favorites. Even stronger were Paige’s one-piece suits. Standouts included a strapless pink-and-black 1950s-style suit with a wide belt; a red mesh, knit, one-shoulder body suit; and a white one-piece with laceup sides.
Jewelry designer Christie Martin added the finishing touches with her silver-chain and letter-plate necklaces and customized straps on spiked-heel sandals. —Joselle Yokogawa
