Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Joey & T

Stylists-turned-designers Joey Tierney and Tanya Tamburin didn’t disappoint at their show on April 2 at the Downtown Standard Hotel. From the moment the first two models—wearing black leather miniskirts studded with the words “Fierce Bitch” and “Twisted Sista”—strutted down the runway at the Joey and T show and flipped off the photographers, the crowd knew they were in for a show with a lot of attitude.

The duo served up plenty of micro minis in day-glo leather, as well as embroidered denim, spray-painted wrap skirts in silk, and ballerina skirts in day-glo tulle. Each was topped with a bandeau or cropped tee printed with the words “Joey and T.”

The accessories had the same cheekiness as the clothing. Legwarmers came in denim and striped knits, leather wrist cuffs came with long chains that hooked onto belt loops, a belt of chains extended to a pair of silver ankle cuffs, and ropes of oversize pearls graced necklines.

It was all enthusiastically received by a crowd that included Britney Spears and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, who turned out to cheer on their oldest daughter, Aimee. —Alison A. Nieder
