Donahue Schriber Names New VP of Operations

Retail-property developer Donahue Schriber of Costa Mesa, Calif., has named Michele Babcock as executive vice president of operations for the privately held real-estate investment trust (REIT).

The position was previously held by Patrick S. Donahue, who took over as president and chief executive in February after his brother, company cofounder Daniel W. Donahue, passed away on Dec. 31, 2002.

Babcock will be responsible for all phases of operations for the REIT, as well as for third-party asset management. In addition, she will join the company’s five-member executive committee.

Babcock formerly served as vice president of leasing and development for the Donahue Schriber REIT division. She handled leasing, re-merchandising and redeveloping for 33 centers encompassing nearly 4 million square feet in California, Nevada and Arizona. Her primary development responsibilities were new acquisitions and development opportunities throughout Arizona, with an immediate focus on the Phoenix and Tucson markets.

Before joining Donahue Schriber in 1995, Babcock was a retail specialist with CB Commercial Real Estate Group, where she leased community and neighborhood shopping centers.

Donahue Schriber owns and operates 67 shopping centers with more than 13 million square feet of retail space in California, Nevada and Arizona. The company’s notable development and redevelopment projects have included the opening of the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, Calif., the repositioning of Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Calif., and the industry’s first “de-malling” at Anaheim Plaza in Anaheim, Calif. —Robert McAllister
