Art- and Culture-Inspired Designs

Brian Lichtenberg is a young designer from Los Angeles who is taking avant-garde to a new wearable level.

Lichtenberg gives his one-of-akind, handmade pieces a modern, cutting-edge look. The 24-year-old designer said he is inspired by Pop Art, Japanese culture, color swatches and geometric shapes. His patchwork dresses and tops combine a variety of fabrics in the same color scheme. He rarely uses a pattern, which helps him create unique silhouettes that are sexy and fun.

The designer said his ideal customers are individuals who are not afraid to be themselves. He has developed a following among several young actors and musicians, including The Dixie Chicks, Christina Aguilera, Mena Suvari, Gwen Stefani and Milla Jovovich, among others. His garments have been seen in publications such as Spin, Rolling Stone, Lucky and L.A. Weekly. Music videos by artists such as 50 Cent and ’N Sync have also featured his pieces.

Retail prices for Lichtenberg’s designs start at $98 and range up to $800 for a customized wedding dress. The designer is currently being carried in Los Angeles at Aero & Co., Fred Segal Santa Monica, Curve, Show Pony, X Boutique, Xin and Apartment 3 and in Tokyo at Hannahs.

For now, Lichtenberg is keeping his company small by serving as his own sales rep. But he said he is looking for an investor to help him take his career to the next level.
