Wet Seal Buys Solution to Track Sales Trends

Foothill Ranch, Calif.–based retailer Wet Seal Inc. will be analyzing its sales more closely. The 624-unit retailer recently deployed software that tracks regional sales trends, demographics and other information. Wet Seal is using software from McLean, Va.–based MicroStrategy Inc. to analyze transactions throughout its chain. The goal is to glean insight on product sales trends by specific regions, demographics and stores. The company will convert this detailed analysis into personalized reports for managers in 600 stores.

Wet Seal currently operates a total of 624 stores in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. There are 490 Wet Seal stores, 103 Arden B. stores and 31 Zutopia stores.

“We’re allowing retailers to enhance and help drive key business areas, including overall store operations, merchandise management, marketing analysis, market-basket analysis, category management and loss prevention,” said MicroStrategy Chief Operating Officer Sanju Bansal.

Wet Seal Chief Information Of ficer Michael Relich said the company was looking for “user-friendly reporting features, superior scalability for large databases, outstanding Web deployability and powerful analytics for the most granular-level data.” —Robert McAllister
