Second Little Black Dress Event Planned
The Little Black Dress is back and will kick off Los Angeles Fashion Week.
Organizers will host the charity event, which benefits Sherry Lansing’s Stop Cancer organization and celebrates the creativity and originality of top Los Angeles fashion designers, on Oct. 25 at Astra West in the Pacific Design Center of West Hollywood, Calif.
The evening will feature 40 Los Angeles designers—including Richard Tyler, Trina Turk, Cornell Collins and Michelle Mason— and a VIP-worthy guest list. This year’s event will cater to an elite, urban crowd, said Alison Kennedy of Kennedy Public Relations. Music spun by renowned deejay Marques Wyatt and KCRW’s Liza Richardson will foster the upscale, metropolitan scene.
Little Black Dress offers guests and designers the opportunity to unite for a charitable cause and commemorate a culture that defines itself through a myriad of fashion declarations.
“L.A. designers are incredibly talented and are just recently getting the recognition they have long deserved,” said Emmy Cortes, creator of the event.
The versatile little black dress is a classic, sophisticated look popularized by Coco Chanel in the 1920s. Designers have continued its must-have appeal into the 21st century by catering to the recently popularized haute couture look. At the event, Los Angeles designers will reveal their interpretations of the perfect black dress at a silent auction following the VIP/Designer reception.
Advance prices for tickets are $60 for general admission and $100 for VIP admission. Tickets will go on sale starting Sept. 15. The day of the event, admission is $75 at the door. All proceeds will go to Stop Cancer, a nonprofit organization founded by the late Dr. Armand Hammer that financially supports cancer research at the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California and the City of Hope.
