Less Productive

Worker productivity slacked off in the last quarter of 2002—although not enough to erase the gains in productivity made all year, according to the Labor Department. Productivity reached a 50-year high of 5.5 percent in 2002 and then abruptly declined in the last quarter by 0.2 percent.
