Ace Ross Studios Looking for Buyer

Ace Ross Studios is for sale.

That’s the word from Ace Ross, who founded the Los Angeles- based tween and junior apparel line 2 years ago.

Ross announced that he was looking for a buyer to take over his company’s operations.

“I thought I could be a oneman show—I can’t,” explained Ross, who said he would like to remain with the company. “I’m looking for someone to take over the financial and sourcing aspect of the company and let me do what I do best—sales and marketing.”

The ebullient Ross has been a familiar fixture in the juniors business, previously as president at Los Angeles-based junior label One Clothing, where he worked until launching Ace Ross Studios in 2000.

Ross said he is looking for a candidate to take over the ownership and distribution of the Ace Ross Spring 2003 line, which currently includes two collections: junior sportswear and loungewear for juniors and tweens. He is also looking for someone to take over a 3-year lease for the company’s office and showroom space, which is located at 1230 San Pedro St., near Los Angeles’ fashion district.

The current juniors collection includes a group that pays tribute to punk band the Ramones. The collection was featured during Los Angeles Fashion Week in November as part of the Fashion Business, Inc. runway show.

The Ace Ross Studios lines are currently sold at Dillard’s department stores as well as specialty boutiques and chain stores throughout the U.S., including Off the Wall, Lord of the Fleas and Working Woman. Each line wholesales from between $8 to $40.

Meanwhile, Ross hasn’t abandoned the entrepreneurial spirit. He said he plans to dedicate some of his time to producing a girls’ line of sportswear called Jewel and Blaire Apparel for Stars, named for actresses Jewel and Blaire Restaneo. —Claudia Figueroa
