Marka Hansen is the new president of Banana Republic. The merchandising veteran has been with San Francisco–based parent company Gap Inc. for 15 years, serving most recently as executive vice president for adult merchandising. She replaces Maureen Chiquet, who recently took a position with Chanel. Hansen will oversee more than 440 stores in the United States and Canada. The company said it currently has no plans to fill Hansen’s former position. Tracy Gardner, senior vice president of Gap adult merchandising, will now report to Gary Muto, president of the Gap division.
