CFA to Host Workers' Comp Forum

Pending workers’ compensation cutbacks will be the topic of discussion at “Workers’ Compensation Reform: an Apparel Industry Speakers’ Platform.” Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., the California Fashion Association and the California Market Center will sponsor the forum, which will take place at 4 p.m. on July 24 in the CMC fashion theater.

Karen Kane Inc. President Lonnie Kane, who is also the chairman of the CFA, will moderate the discussion. Guest speakers will include Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s Andrew Josephson and Apparel Resources Inc.’s Randy Youngblood.

Discussion will focus on immediate reform of current workers’ compensation legislation and the rollback of costs, opportunities that could allow companies to mitigate current costs, and the avoidance of future “legislative surprises.”

California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi; California Assemblyman, 48th District, Mark Ridley-Thomas; and Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo have been invited to join the forum.

The event is free, although attendees must R.S.V.P. and bring business cards to the event. The CMC is located at 110 E. Ninth St. in downtown Los Angeles. For more information, call (213) 688-6288. —Claudia Figueroa
