Design Biennial Planned in Pasadena

The Pasadena Museum of California Art is seeking designs by local apparel makers for its upcoming California Design Biennial.

The juried exhibition will feature design in five categories: fashion, furniture, graphic design, transportation and consumer products. The exhibition will run from June 21 to Sept. 4.

The museum said it created the exhibition to “raise awareness of California’s role as an international design center, while exploring the ways design impacts and inspires everyday life.”

The fashion segment will feature individual clothing items, ensembles and accessories. Items must have been designed within the past two years.

The museum posted a call for entries on its Web site, www.pmcaonline.org. The deadline for entries is April 4. Late entries will be accepted until April 16. The competition is open to any California designer or student enrolled in an accredited California school. The cost to enter is $50 for students or $75 for non-students. There will be an additional $25 charge for late entries. Additional instructions for submitting designs are available on the Web site. —Alison A. Nieder
