Camp Max Straus Sets Distribution Day

The Jewish Federation’s Fashion Industries Division and Camp Max Straus will hold the annual Camp Max Straus Clothing Distribution Day on June 8 at the Jewish Federation’s Goldsmith Center, located in the Miracle Mile section of Los Angeles.

During the day, volunteers will distribute clothing and camping supplies to more than 1,000 inner-city and at-risk kids between the ages of 7 and 13 who will be attending Camp Max Straus this summer.

The camp, a nonsectarian facility run by the Jewish Federation’s Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters, each year sends children from low-income and single-parent homes to camp for a minimal fee. According to the organization, no child is ever turned away because of his or her inability to pay.

Sponsors of the event include Lucky Brand Dungarees, Vans, LaMode, Jerry Leigh of California, Aptan Corp., Atlas Textiles, Gin-l Fabrics, Mainzer Minton, Pacific Knitting Mills, Santa Fe Finishing, Security Textiles, Ben & Jerry’s, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Malibu, Calif., Western Bagels and Harris Stationery.
