New Zealand Fashions at the CMC

New Zealand fashions are coming to the California Market Center. As part of Los Angeles Market Week, the CMC will showcase Focus, including 14 apparel lines from Down Under, in the fashion theater June 6–10.

The group, which was organized by Julie Nelson of WCB Import Co., will include Adrian Hailwood screen-printed tees, Insidious Fix contemporary knitwear, Laurie Foon contemporary separates, Susan Scarf printed silks and embroidered velvets, Thunderwear underwear, Taylor and Tanya Bentley jewelry, Liz Mitchell high-end eveningwear and separates, Seriously Twisted possum-fur accessories, Patrick James hand-tooled leather bags and Rosa Bespoke handbags.

The New Zealand group will also feature Mere Tauhaene contemporary hand-crafted Maori feather cloaks and woven-flax kete bags by Te Orihau Te Tai.

Other exhibitors planned for Focus include Ana Capri, Allen B. by Allen B. Schwartz, Tark 1 for Avenue Montaigne, Femme Arsenal, Yemee, Rix Chix, Art District and Bellum House.

Other activities planned for the June market include Hot Lava, an opening-night cocktail party featuring retro surf band The Stingrays. The party is set for 6 p.m. on June 6 in the CMC’s lobby patio.

On June 7, the CMC will host the Throwback Cities Fashion Event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby patio. The event will feature informal modeling of authentic retro jerseys from top athletic teams, a live deejay, refreshments and T-shirt giveaways. —Alison A. Nieder
