U.S. Export Opportunities

The U.S. government will be showcasing American apparel in Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories early next year.

The U.S. Commercial Service said there is a big demand for high-quality U.S. apparel in those areas, which are populated by 12 million people. The agency will be promoting U.S. clothing in the area during January, February and March 2004.

In addition to maintaining a display in its Jerusalem office, the U.S. Commercial Service will have various events showcasing American clothing at the Palestinian American Chamber of Commerce in the West Bank town of Ramallah in January; at the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce in February; and at the American Chamber of Commerce in Amman, Jordan, and the Arab Business Club in Nazareth, Israel, in March.

The U.S. Department of Commerce is also looking for U.S. companies interested in participating in a U.S. pavilion next summer at the Surf & Beach Show 2004 in Satilde;o Paulo.

The cost is $2,800, which includes design and construction of a booth with walls, carpet, a table, three chairs, a counter and four wall shelves. Also included are market counseling, shipping and customs assistance, hotel reservations, post-show follow-up, trade aides and interpreters.
