Seminars Set for L.A. Textile, Tech Shows

FedEx Corp. consultant John Wilkins will lead a seminar during Technology by Design, the technology trade show running concurrent with the Los Angeles International Textile Show, Oct. 20–22 at the California Market Center in Los Angeles.

Wilkins will speak at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in suite C686 of the CMC on supply-chain issues and how technology can increase speed and visibility. More specifically, Wilkins will discuss the importance of leveraging transportation solutions with tracking tools to shorten the design, sourcing and distribution steps in apparel production, as well as discuss what online tools are readily available to improve collaboration and communication among trading partners.

In addition to FedEx’s presentation, Microsoft Corp. General Manager, Sales Dana Manciagli will present a seminar at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 22 in suite C686 on Microsoft Office Live Meeting, a lowcost technology to reduce travel, accelerate decisions, and respond to market conditions much more effectively.

Both Fedex and Microsoft are sponsors of Technology by Design.

There will also be several trend presentations held throughout the textile show in suite C686. Among those scheduled to make presentations on Fall/Winter ’04–’05 trends on Oct. 20 are Cotton Inc. at 8:30 a.m., Promostyl at 10:30 a.m. and Celanese Acetate at 4:30 p.m. On Oct. 21 Cinzia Black will present at 8:30 a.m. followed by Design Options/Bill Glazer & Associates at 10:30 a.m. and Trudy Adler/Carlin International at 4:30 p.m. Sarah Brady of Peclers will conclude the seminar schedule on Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m. —Robert McAllister
