L.A. Fashion Week Fall '04: Sheri Bodell

Sheri Bodell showed her Fall 2004 collection of rock-inspired clothing on March 31 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. The designer said the collection is “all about the L.A. girl that has everything in her closet already and just wants to buy something special to spice up her wardrobe.”

“I’m all about rock ’n’ roll, but I love to throw in the feminine pieces to make it soft and flirty and more feminine,” she added.

The collection included feminine layered chiffon tops and dresses, edgy suitsand sportswear looks with zipper and hardware details, and fur and leather jackets.

For Bodell, it’s all about the details and fabric treatments that make each garment unique. To woven fabrics—including silk, crepe de chine and chiffon—she added embroidery, buttons, zippers and snaps. She also took luxe fox and rabbit furs to new levels by shearing, studding and hand-painting them.

In true rock ’n’ roll fashion, Bodell also included a leather jacket with embroidery replicating the tattoo artwork on Tommy Lee’s body. “I actually designed that jacket for him, and I added it on to my collection, as well,” she said. —N.J.S.
