L.A. Fashion Week Fall '04: Eduardo Lucero

Designer Eduardo Lucero gave Los Angeles style a French accent with his Fall 2004 collection, which bowed on April 2 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

“It’s for the East Los Angeles girl that goes to Paris and comes back with a whole new perspective on fashion,” Lucero said.

A delicate black lace blouse with a deep V-neckline worn with satin wide-leg pants and a black satin backless shirt worn with lace pants were effortless, yet masterful styles influenced by Lucero’s childhood memories of East Los Angeles.

Lucero combined feminine looks with street chic in ensembles such as a floral blouse worn with herringbone pants and accessorized with a pea-green leather bag. A black knit halter top with fringe details paired with a gold satin pleated skirt brought to mind the Roaring Twenties updated for a modern girl.

Lucero accessorized the fashions with large gold hoop earrings and classic Kangol caps. He also demonstrated his flair for the dramatic with a slouchy, yet sexy off-the-shoulder trenchcoat dress. —Claudia Figueroa
