L.A. Fashion Week Fall '04: Sanctuary Clothing

Debra Polanco went from denim to diamonds in a matter of minutes for Sanctuary Clothing’s Fall 2004 runway show, held on April 2 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

Polanco, incorporating a “travel junkie” theme, stuck to color and comfort for daytime looks. Hoodies, tees and tanks in bubblegum colors—bearing the names of world capitals like Tokyo, Amsterdam and Berlin—came with denim, plaid scooter skirts and society trousers. The designer maintained casual elegance with eveningwear in metallics and shiny silks.

But Polanco did not abandon her signature tuxedo pants. She featured a “mini tux” look with a velvet blazer and brought in metallic leather jackets and black velvet palazzos. Shiny satin halters and sharp trench coats in teal rounded out the collection.
