Cutter & Buck Inc. Chooses Freeborders

San Francisco software developer Freeborders PLM has sold its suite of product lifecycle management software to Seattle-based Cutter & Buck Inc., which will use the applications to improve communications with its supply-chain partners.

Cutter & Buck, which markets golf and casual sportswear, sells its products through professional golf shops, specialty retail accounts and resorts. The company will use Freeborders’ browser-based Product Manager, Line Optimizer, Fabric & Trim and Workflow modules to manage production, from concept to procurement. The system uses database technology that allows trading partners to access production specifications and data via the Internet.

“Increased efficiencies and improved visibility of information across functional groups were key motivators for us in selecting the Freeborders PLM suite,” said Jody Crow, Cutter & Buck’s product development manager.

Such software helps users create designs faster and helps shorten production cycles and increase profitability, added John Cestar, co-chief executive officer of Freeborders. —Robert McAllister
