4R Releases New Markdown Manager

Wayne, Penn.–based 4R Systems Inc. has released a new markdown management system called MaxOut.

MaxOut uses sales and inventory data to help retailers determine the best time to mark down or liquidate products. The system is based on an “end-of-life” platform aimed at managing inventories during the down cycle of a product’s life on the store shelf. It recommends markdowns, consolidation and liquidation at the appropriate points in the cycle. The product provides “what if” scenarios that allow merchants to evaluate the impact of these scenarios before executing them. The software also has a price-optimization engine that determines optimal price trajectories to be applied to a discontinued SKU over the course of its exit horizon.

Chief Executive Officer Jiri Nechleba said 4R’s product can generally increase profitability by 1 percent to 2 percent of sales.
