Action Girl-The TV Show

Corona, Calif.–based action-sports trade show Action Girl has put its New York debut on hold and instead is preparing a reality-based television show that will document the girls’ action-sports lifestyle.

The New York trade show, which would have been the third in the Action Girl series, was set to bow in March, according to Founder and Show Director Jaime Sparks. Now March is when Sparks expects to begin production on the TV show. Sparks said there are plans to air the series this summer.

“We’d rather postpone New York and make it a much bigger, grand event,” she said, adding that the trade show will go to New York next year. “We have put it aside to give the world a taste of what Action Girl is all about in a reality TV show, which will help build brand awareness for many of our manufacturers who exhibit at our show.”

Through the program, Sparks intends to delineate what the Action Girl market is and give the trade show’s exhibitors added insight into their customer.

The TV show, which Sparks describes as “Queer Eye for the Straight Girl,” will feature a mix of action sports, fashion, music and Hollywood. —Alison A. Nieder
