Giorgio the Hotelier

Giorgio Armani is planning a chain of boutique hotels that will bear his name and his style. The Italian designer signed a letter of intent with Dubaibased real estate developer Emaar Properties to open 10 hotels and four luxury resorts over the next seven years in cities including New York, Paris, Milan and Shanghai. Armani will design and furnish the hotels, and Emaar will manage the properties. The project, expected to cost more than $1 billion, will start just months before Bulgari is due to open its first upscale hotel behind Armani’s office in central Milan.
