MAGIC Fashion Show

Biker babes, denim, retro looks, sweat suits and masculine/feminine styles will dominate Fall 2004 looks, according to WWDMAGIC’s runway show.

The “Style File” Fall 2004 fashion show broke down five key trends from companies exhibiting during MAGIC International at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The fashion show started with a meeting of opposites in the “Girls Will Be Boys” group. Masculine and feminine looks came in a strong black-and-white color palette. Models, accessorized with pearls and furs, walked the runway in pin-striped suits and shirts, plaid dresses, corsets, and pant ensembles.

In “Pumped Up,” dedicated to the latest looks in casual attire, designers showed that sweats rule. Topping the list were coordinating jacket-and-skirt ensembles, long sweat shirt–and–pant combos, retro styles and cashmere-like fabrications in gray, camel, chocolate, pink and turquoise hues.

Denim is still in, according to the looks highlighted in the “Freestyle Denim” group. The latest jean, blazer and miniskirt styles were combined in fresh new ways with T-shirts, feminine tweed jackets, colorful sweaters and preppy polo shirts.

“Retro Reinterpreted” rehashed the past with modern interpretations of retro fashions, including ’60s-print dresses paired with modern coats and ’50s dresses paired with fur capelets and wraps.

Biker babes in “Lust for Thrust”—clad in leather jackets, tanks, sexy sequined minis, taffeta bubble skirts and gunmetal pants—added a tough edge to the show’s finale.
