Hudson Gets New Position at MJW

Real estate executive Larry Hudson has been named director of asset management for Los Angeles–based MJW Investments, which owns the Gerry Building fashion showrooms as well as numerous other properties in Southern California.

Hudson has been director of leasing for the Gerry Building for the past three years. He was previously executive director of leasing for the California Market Center (formerly California Mart).

In his new position, Hudson will oversee MJW’s portfolio, which includes the Gerry Building, Santee Court and a new mixed-use project in the Boyle Heights section of Los Angeles. MJW owns about 2 million square feet of commercial property in addition to 1,500 residential units.

Hudson will continue to manage leasing at the Gerry Building, a historic manufacturing facility that was renovated into wholesale showrooms two years ago. The company is acquiring a parcel in East Los Angeles next to a Sears store, where it plans to develop retail and residential space.

MJW’s Santee Court located on Los Angeles Street in the Fashion District opened this spring. The project will include more than 500 residential units and commercial space. A Rite- Aid drug store is set to open this fall. —R.M.
