BCBG Gets New High-Speed Digitizers

Los Angeles–based apparel maker BCBG Max Azria has overhauled its digitizing operations with a new scanning system recently developed by New York–based Nhega Inc.

BCBG is now using the NScan digitizer, which Nhega says is three to five times faster than standard systems. The scanner uses a wide format and intelligent software to increase speed.

BCBG Marking and Grading Manager Mario Wessenberg said the system has improved efficiency without sacrificing accuracy.

A Nhega representative said the NScan is accurate to within one–one thousandth of an inch when compared with human digitizing. He said a jacket that would take up to two hours to digitize using traditional methods takes about 30 minutes to digitize with the NScan. The system is compatible with CAD systems by Gerber Technology Inc., Optitex USA Inc., PAD System Technologies Inc., Investronica and others. —R.M.
