CFA to Host Seminar on Labor Law

The California Fashion Association, a nonprofit organization that provides business opportunities to Southern California’s apparel and textile manufacturers, is hosting “Business- to-Business,” an ongoing series with topics ranging from the perils and issues of international trade to domestic labor law.

CFA Executive Director Ilse Metchek said the topics will be very relevant to the issues involved in doing business in the apparel industry. The seminars will also provide networking opportunities for manufacturers and apparel suppliers, Metchek said.

CFA’s first seminar, about labor law, will be held at 4 p.m. on June 17 at the California Market Center’s fashion theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The panel will consist of apparel industry attorneys Stan Levy of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP; Laura Worsinger of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger; and Mark Brutzkus and Robert Ezra of Ezra, Brutzkus & Gubner LLP.

Topics will include liability for retailers, manufacturers and contractors; the status of wage/hour class-action litigation in California; employment issues; and the current status of California Assembly Bill 633, Senate Bill 2 and workers’ compensation bills.

The seminar is free to members of the apparel industry. To R.S.V.P., call (213) 688- 6288. —Claudia Figueroa
