U.S. Customs Exec Labuda to Speak at CFA Meeting

Janet Labuda, director of the Textile Enforcement and Operations Division of the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection in Washington, D.C., will speak at the California Fashion Association’s general membership meeting on May 19 in Los Angeles.

Labuda will discuss current risks and threats for importers and address industry concerns and questions such as: “What can my company do to avoid problems at U.S. Customs?” and “What can we expect from U.S. Customs after 2005?”

Following Labuda’s talk, attendees will be invited to pose their questions to a panel that will include Richard Wortman of Grunfeld, Desiderio, Lebowitz, Silverman & Klestadt LLP; Robert Webster, vice president of trade networks for the FedEx Corp.; and Robert Krieger, president and customs broker for Norman Krieger & Associates.

FedEx and Grunfeld, Desiderio, Lebowitz, Silverman & Klestadt are sponsoring the meeting, which will be held at the California Club in downtown Los Angeles.
