Clothing Donations Sought for Silverlake School

Apparel donations are being sought for a benefit organized by parents of preschool students attending the Silver Lake Independent Jewish Community Center (SIJCC) in the Silverlake district of Los Angeles. Parents and others in the community are trying to raise funds to purchase the center, slated for closure, and keep the preschool running.

Silverlake resident Sara Stein is helping to organize the sale for the center, where her son, Noah, is a student.

“This is Noah’s second year attending the SIJCC, but the center has been a part of the Silverlake community for 50 years,” said Stein, co-owner of Los Angeles–based publicrelations agency SPR. “My family has met the most amazing people through the center, and in a city as big as L.A., it is inspiring to see a community come together in such friendship and support. I hope it is going to be around for lots of other families to enjoy.”

Organizers have already collected items from Tree, NOM, Sue Wong, My-Tee, Bella Dahl, Bartack, Petro Zillia, Komarov & Kisca, American Apparel, Development, Monah Li, California Waves, Endless Sun, ERNSDORF, Parkvogel and Lily McNeal.

Donations can be stock or samples, and all contributions are tax-deductible. Organizers can arrange to pick up donated merchandise.

The sale will be held on June 5 at the center, located at 1110 Bates Ave. There will be a $10 entrance fee for those who want to preshop between 8 and 10 a.m. Admission will be free and open to the public after 10 a.m.
