Sea to Open Showroom at FIG Dallas

Los Angeles–based sales agency Sea will open a showroom next month at the new Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas.

The contemporary resource sells Citizens of Humanity denim and knits; C&C California’s collections for men, women and children; Cristi Conaway; Godis outerwear; and Tailor-Byrd shirtings.

The company, headed by Lela Tillem, maintains its Los Angeles showroom at The New Mart and had been keeping a temporary space at the Dallas Market Center. It is taking a permanent space at the FIG, joining 13 other Los Angeles–based showrooms that have signed on since the center’s opening in January.

The FIG opened to answer a demand for contemporary and bridge lines in the Dallas market that was caused by the closure of the International Apparel Mart. Most of the showrooms at the mart moved to FashionCenterDallas, the showroom center that opened in March at the World Trade Center on the DMC campus. Yet, a number of showrooms opted for the FIG, which took over the Southwestern Insurance building at 1807 Ross Ave.

Maintained by Dallas-based Brook Partners Inc., the FIG occupies 268,000 square feet of space near the Dallas Art Museum and the Neiman Marcus flagship. In keeping with the downtown theme, Brook modeled the showrooms and building after an art gallery, with clean space and wall pockets to highlight merchandise.

The center will host its next market week June 3–6. The downtown Neiman Marcus store will host a trend presentation for FIG buyers on June 3, as well as a Laura Mercier cosmetics presentation on June 4. Also on June 4, the Federico Mariel showroom will host an 8 p.m. party and show featuring Brazilian singer Solange Mariel.
