Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Davies

Erica Davies turned to rich, soft colors and draped jerseys and tunics for her Davies Spring collection, previewed on Oct. 26 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

The former Richard Tyler proteacute;geacute; opened up her palette from previous seasons, adding more pastel shades and rich colors such as mint, raspberry and apricot. Some bold color combinations were found on ribbon-striped silk camisoles and dresses.

A student of the human form, Davies favored hanging gauze dresses and jersey tunics. She did add some tailored styles, including a cropped jacket with matching tuxedo pants and a tight strapless dress, as well as some ruched dresses. For the most part, however, the looks were loose-fitting and lightweight. —R.M.
