Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Editte Keshishyan

Editte Keshishyan showed her colorful Spring/Summer ’05 collection on Oct. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. The Armenian designer said spring, love and one of her floral chiffon fabrics inspired her collection.

Keshishyan pulled many of the colors in her collection from that silk chiffon fabric and from a pink-and-blue beaded and sequined lace. The final palette featured a mixture of candycolored brights—including pink, turquoise, yellow, blue and green—and soft mauve, light blue, mint, gold and white. The designer added pin stripes in navy and blue to contrast with the florals and vivid colors.

Keshishyan said she liked pairing whimsical, feminine pieces with cleaner, sexier silhouettes. She used linen, cotton poplin, rayon, silk jersey and silk chiffon with a metallic stripe to enhance the lighthearted feeling of the collection. Hand-beaded and hand-sequined details added the finishing touch. —N.J.S.
