A&F's $40 million Settlement

New Albany, Ohio–based specialty store chain Abercrombie & Fitch agreed to pay $40 million to settle a class action suit filed by Latino, African American and Asian applicants and employees who said the retailer practiced discrimination in hiring and promoting employees. The suit was originally filed on behalf of the employees by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the Asian Pacific American Legal Center and the law firm of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP. Among the terms of the settlement, A&F must hire 25 recruiters who will seek minority applicants.
