Nano-Tex Names New Execs

Emeryville, Calif.–based Nano-Tex LLC, a supplier of fabric treatments based on nanotechnology, has named Kim Houchens as its new chief technology officer and Mark Brutten as senior vice president of marketing.

Houchens will oversee technology development and purchase decisions for the company. She has held a number of positions with companies such as The Dow Chemical Co. and Kimberly-Clark Corp. and, most recently, with Omnova Solutions Inc. Houchens holds a doctorate in textile technology from North Carolina State University and has helped develop space suits for International Space Station astronauts as well as surgical apparel for doctors.

Brutten will help direct marketing initiatives and brand building for Nano-Tex. He has worked for companies including Addis and Productopia.com. His work has earned him three Clio advertising awards.

Nano-Tex uses nanotechnology, technology that operates at the molecular level, to develop fabrics that stay cool and resist stains and moisture. Among the apparel companies using Nano-Tex treatments are Gap Inc., Old Navy Inc., Nike Inc. and Levi Strauss & Co.R.M.
