Veltex Takes on Distribution

Veltex Corp. has added a new division, Veltex Apparel, which will handle distribution for the City of Industry, Calif.–based company.

The introduction of a distribution subsidiary completes Veltex’s efforts to become a fully vertical operation. The company and its divisions now handle all production—from manufacture of the fabric through construction, assembly and distribution to the customer.

The company has three divisions: Veltex Apparel, which produces promotional caps, apparel and accessories; KCA Garments, a sewing contractor division; and Velvet Textile Mills, which produces velvet, cotton twill, denim and sheeting.

Javeed A. Matin, chairman and chief executive officer, founded the publicly held company. Under his direction, the company has grown from $5.5 million in revenue in 1999 to a projected $25 million in sales for 2004. The company’s sales and marketing divisions are based in Southern California, and its factories are in Bangladesh.
