New Gift Sourcing Show Coming to L.A.

Sources L.A.—an annual trade show geared toward gift industry importers, distributors and volume buyers—will debut Jan. 21–24, 2006, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The show will run in conjunction with the California Gift Show, produced by George Little Management LLC.

GLM projects at least 250 exhibitors of gifts, handicrafts, home furnishings, decorative accessories and accessory apparel will attend Sources L.A. Most will be offshore producers from Bolivia, China, Ecuador, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, according to the show producer.

Sources originally launched in the spring of 2003 in New York, but GLM officials said a winter West Coast event will complement the annual show circuit.

Tony Lee, GLM vice president of sales and marketing, said Los Angeles is a key point of entry for Asian imports. The Port of Los Angeles is one of three ports in the West that can handle the new class of super cargo ships.

“Based on the success of the Sources concept in New York, the launch of Sources L.A. is a logical expansion,” Lee said. “Sources L.A. will be the West Coast connection to the $60 billion U.S. gift and decorative accessories market for non-U.S. manufacturers. The event’s timing and location are ideal for bringing the right mix of buyers and sellers together in one convenient marketplace.”
