Tran Joins Editorial Staff of California Apparel News

Journalist Khanh T.L. Tran has joined the editorial staff of the California Apparel News as manufacturing editor, replacing Claudia Figueroa, who has left the publication.

Tran was previously with The Wall Street Journal’s San Francisco bureau, where she covered the global video game industry. She covered technology companies for financial Web site CBS.MarketWatch.com and U.S. companies operating in Japan for The Wall Street Journal’s Tokyo bureau. She also worked for the Japanese Broadcasting Corp. in Washington, D.C.

Tran holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, a fellowship from the Academy for Alternative Journalism and the New Times Writing Fellowship.

She also speaks Japanese, French and Vietnamese.

“We are very pleased to have Khanh join the editorial team at California Apparel News,” said Executive Editor Alison A. Nieder. “Her business journalism background will be a strong asset to the paper.”

Figueroa will continue to contribute stories to the paper on an occasional basis, Nieder added. “We are sorry to see Claudia go, and we wish her all the best,” she said.

Tran can be reached at (213) 627-3737, Ext. 248, or by e-mail at khanh@apparelnews.net.
