ASAP Planning New Buyers' Trip to South Asia

The producers of the ASAP Global Sourcing Show in Las Vegas are planning a buyers’ trip to Pakistan and Bangladesh for Nov. 8–17. Participants will visit factories in Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan and Dhaka in Bangladesh. The two countries are the fourth- and fifth-largest apparel exporters, respectively.

Factories in Pakistan are known for their extensive knitwear capabilities as well as for their manufacturing of wovens and leather. Bangladesh is a mass-market specialist that produces apparel in all categories at one-third the labor rate of competing nations, said ASAP President Frank Yuan.

Yuan said the timing of the trip is advantageous for buyers because of the recent safeguard measures set in place against China.

The cost of the trip is $2,990 from Los Angeles or $1,600 excluding airfare. The price includes five-star hotel accommodations, local air and ground transportation, and all meals. The trip is limited to 50 buyers.
