Market Focuses on Small Designers, Boutiques

The creator of the Melrose/Fairfax Swap Meet will launch a weekly open-air market focusing on small boutiques and designers on Feb. 5.

Phillip Dane hopes the new market, which is dubbed Peddler on the Roof and will be held on the rooftop of the Sunset Gower Studios, will allow start-up businesses to reach 5,000 consumers each week. The organizers said that more than 150 vendors will be able to use some 30,000 square feet of space on the rooftop and will sell their wares next to food purveyors and live musical acts. Customers will pay a $5 fee to enter the market.

Designers who have signed on include Dean, Christie Martin Jewelry, Naqada, LuLu handbags, Elate Wear and Libby’s Vintage. Organizers said some vendor spaces are still open.
