New CSULA Course Takes On Textiles and the Law

Legal concerns, including copyright protection and human resource issues facing the textile and apparel industry, will be discussed in “Textile Production Meets the Law,” a new course added to the fall lineup of California State University, Los Angeles’ Textile Production and Management Certificate Program.

The new program was designed for textile and apparel industry employees and executives. “Textile Production Meets the Law” is targeted at middle- and senior-level managers in the textile industry who are looking for information that can help them grow their businesses. The evening sessions will be taught by attorneys who specialize in the apparel industry and will be held weekly in downtown Los Angeles.

Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger attorney Benjamin Seigel and university staff will lead the introduction to the course. Among the other attorneys tentatively scheduled to lead sessions are Laura Worsinger and Paul Bressan, who will discuss human resource issues, including wage and hour concerns and workers’ compensation; Doug Lipstone and Jason Fisher, who will cover intellectual property issues, including domestic and international trademarks and copyrights; Nadav Ravid and Jeffrey Kapor, who will discuss facilities management and corporate governance, including facilities purchasing and leasing and environmental regulations; Robert Gonzales and Cyrus Sanai, who will cover financing and distribution, as well as current trade agreements; and Kirsten Ehrig, who along with Seigel will address credit, collection and litigation issues.

The course is tentatively scheduled to run from September to October. For information about the Textile Production and Management Certificate Program and the “Textile Production Meets the Law” course, call (323) 343-4900 or (323) 343-4918.
